What is Sinus Lifting?
Sinus lifting, also referred to as sinus augmentation, is a surgical procedure designed to augment the amount of bone in the upper jaw, particularly in the premolar and molar tooth region. This procedure is often essential to ensure the successful placement of dental implants in the posterior maxilla, where bone density and height may be inadequate due to the proximity of the sinus. During the sinus lifting procedure, the sinus membrane is gently elevated, and bone graft material is inserted into the created space, encouraging new bone growth. Over the course of several months, the grafted material fuses with the existing bone, establishing a suitable foundation for the placement of dental implants.
